I am a technology executive and distinguished engineer with experience building teams to deliver cloud security solutions using a combination of open source and custom software. I write code, architecture documents, and help mentor members of the team to perform their best. In Open Source, I have been active in many open source networking projects over the years including Open vSwitch, OpenStack, OpenDaylight, OPNFV and others. I have been the PTL of OpenStack Neutron, served on the OpenStack TC, and represented IBM on the OPNFV board of directors. I've led teams externally across companies as well as inside companies to push the boundaries of what they can deliver using open source software. These teams have been distributed as well as co-located. I've hired teams from scratch. building them from the ground up into effective engineering organizations. I have worked with vendors and telecommunications companies to enable functionality in open source software. This has included work to enable telcos in open source projects. Clients included Comcast, DT, and AT&T. I also continue to write high quality software in support of cloud security services. This software is delivered in a continuous manner, and deployed using modern software delivery practices. This software is typically in C, Python, bash and golang, and I'm beginning to experiment with Rust as well. Special skills include understanding and implementing open source technologies, community involvement, and licensing. I have built community engagement plans for companies, as well as worked with Open Source program offices to enable engagement of developers.
